ABOUT EDI
What is EDI?
Electronic data interchange (EDI) is the structured transmission of data by electronic means between organizations in a standard format. It is used to transfer electronic documents or business data from one computer system to another computer system, i.e. from one trading partner to another trading partner without human intervention.

EDI Implementation:
In order to be EDI capable one needs the following:
-
Software for communications, mail box of EDI transactions, mapping and translation.
-
A VAN or AS2 communication will need to be setup for EDI transmissions.
-
Hardware including servers, communication devices and peripherals.
-
Secured office space and monitored security.
-
Data backups and redundant power for reliability.
-
Additional software for integration of the EDI transactions with back office systems is desired.
-
Trained staff in how to use the software and communication devices.
-
Maps will need to be developed for each EDI document type to be exchanged with each partner. Maps translate the encoded EDI record into a useable format.
-
Every EDI transaction type required by your trading partners will need to be tested.
KBSOFT Systems Inc. provides services to all the above for small to large organizations. All you would need is internet access and we take care of all the services required to setup EDI in an easy to use solution. This includes all of the software, transmission (VAN/AS2), hardware, security, communications, mapping, translation etc.
EDI Benefits:
Paper business documents can take up to 10 days from the time the buyer prepares an order to when the supplier ships it. EDI orders can take as little as one day. EDI is much less expensive than transmitting paper documents. A paper-based order can cost as much as $70 while processing an EDI purchase order costs less than a dollar. Much less labor time is required and fewer errors are made because computer systems process the documents rather than processing by hand.
-
EDI integration eliminates the need for double input, improving your operations.
-
Experience fewer submission errors and faster document turnaround time.
-
Managing shipment information by EDI can help you minimize phone, fax, and courier charges by submitting documents electronically.
-
Save effort with proven and efficient implementation process - standardized integrations can be implemented quickly.
-
Data integrity -- our system automatically monitors message integrity and can issue reports and e-mail notifications to the appropriate parties if the message fails established criteria.
You DO NOT need:
-
To invest on additional hardware.
-
To purchase additional software.
-
To invest on new staffing.
-
To pay huge annual fees.
-
To do mapping.
